AB In 2004 the Sino-German cooperation project MAGIM (Matter fluxes of Grasslands in Inner Mongolia as influenced by grazing) was created in the context of dramatic land use changes in the Northern Chinese semi-arid natural grasslands.
The effects of grazing on the ecosystems carbon and nitrogen dynamics are of fundamental importance for the regional and global matter flux analysis and discussion.
The present work addresses in particular grazing effects on decomposition, N availability, N balance, N cycle and vegetation.
