Employing recently developed statistical and econometric techniques for estimation of non linear models, crises phenomena connected to the balance of payments are focused. The analysis of crises phenomena has been subject to tremendous research efforts over the last decades. However, this thesis addresses several empirical and methodological issues, which have received less attention, namely the incorporation of latent heterogeneity and serial dependence structures in empirical models employed for explaining and assessing crises and their influence on economic growth. 4950 https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:gbv:8-diss-34527$xR$3Volltext$534 4961 https://macau.uni-kiel.de/receive/diss_mods_00003452 5051 310 5550 Currency Crisis 5550 Current Account Reversal 5550 Latent Heterogeneity 5550 Panel Data 5550 Probit Model 5550 Regime Switching Model 5550 Treatment Model
