The parent compound of the furylfulgides (MeF) was systematically modified by steric and electronic effects with a bulky isopropyl substituent (iPrF) or by intramolecular bridging (7rF) at the hexatriene/cyclohexadiene chromophore and by benzannulation of the furyl ring (MeBF), respectively.
