Magnetoelectric (ME) sensors are predestined for use in medical diagnostics for the measurement of both natural and artificial biomagnetic fields at room temperature due to their properties and high sensitivities. The scope of this work deals with the systematic analysis and optimization of thin-film ME sensors. The finite element method (FEM) is used for modeling and the ME sensor behavior is investigated with regard to its geometry parameters, the arrangement of the individual layersequences and for different material combinations. In addition, the use of different electrode concepts as well as the use of mechanical and magnetic concentrators is analyzed.
