Die Jesuiten und die brasilianischen Indianersprachen. Vom Tupi zur Língua geral.

O trabalho discorre sobre o engajamento dos jesuítas e de escritores franceses pelo aprendizado da língua tupi e por conseqüência dos trabalhos e serviços prestados pelos tradutores e intérpretes. Focados tanto na catequese dos nativos como no processo de aculturação verifica-se que, a partir do século XVI, começam a aparecer os primeiros escritos em língua tupi. É ressaltada a importância de Diogo Álvares, o Caramuru, como intérprete,de Padre Leonardo com seu primeiro “Vocabulário da língua brasílica” e o método “Arte” do Padre Anchieta.

This work discusses the active commitment of the jesuits and french writers to the learning of the tupi language and, consequently, the work and services rendered by translators and interpreters. Focussed as much on the catechizing of the natives as on the process of acculturation, it conrms that, from the 16 th. century on, the first writings in the tupi language begin to appear. Emphasis is given to the importance of Diogo Álvares, known as Caramuru, as an interpreter, of Padre Leo- nardo with his first “Vocabulary of brazilian indigenous language” and the “Art“ method of Padre Anchieta.
