Quality assurance
The scientific quality of the series is ensured by an expert-based review process. Furthermore, all contributions are thoroughly proofread before publication.
Open Access
The scientific findings of the supplements should be freely available and reusable in the long term. Therefore, all contributions are not only specially prepared for online publication, but also placed under a free licence (Creative Commons licenses).
Publication format
The series volumes are published in loose succession both in electronic form via the Open Access Repository of Kiel University (MACAU) and as a print version in bookshops. They are assigned International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs). Likewise, individual articles published in the series volumes receive DOIs, if applicable. After acceptance, they can also be published immediately online for citation.
