Expression of chemokines and their receptors in human meningiomas and schwannomas

Meningiomas and schwannomas are common tumors of the nervous system. Limited data are available on the role of the chemokine/receptor axis in meningiomas and schwannomas. In our study, for the first time, the mRNA and protein expression levels of three chemokine/receptor pairs (CX3CL1/CX3CR1, CXCL12/CXCR4 and CXCL16/CXCR6) were investigated in human meningiomas and schwannomas by real-time RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. Our results showed that chemokines and their receptors are involved in the pathogenisis of human meningiomas and schwannomas.
