Equatorial Pacific Variability in Climate Models

Wengel, Christian

In this dissertation, equatorial Pacific variability in climate models is investigated. Of particular interest are the eastern equatorial Pacific sea surface temperature annual cycle and the El NiƱo/Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The simulation of these modes of variability in climate models is studied, identifying significant model biases and their origins. Furthermore, possibilities to alleviate model biases are addressed.
