Beschreibung:The formation of the supercontinent Gondwana at the transition from the Proterozoic to the Phanerozoic ended with the closure of the Mozambique Ocean and the subsequent collision of continental blocks belonging to East and West Gondwana. As a result of the so-called Pan-African Orogeny, the huge East African Orogen formed. The present thesis investigates metamorphic rocks from Madagascar and Tanzania, using petrological, geochronological, and geochemical methods, in order to unravel the timing and geodynamic causes of metamorphic events in the East African Orogen.
