Marine aquaculture in the context of sustainable coastal development : What influences decision-making processes in Israel and Germany?

The primary objective of this thesis was to shed light on the marine aquaculture sector in each of the two countries and to sort out chances and risks for future mariculture development in the two regions. The innovative idea of this research was to analyze the attitudes towards marine aquaculture from a public, i.e. social and political point of view. This thesis yields data and results from quantitative and qualitative surveys carried out during the project in both Israel and Germany. The information provided here is suitable to guide and support policy-making in the marine aquaculture sector in each of the two countries and beyond.
