New mid-IR-CRD spectrometer fororganohalogen detection and innovativeapplications of saturation spectroscopy

In this study a new mid-IR cw-CRD spectrometer has been setup as a development platform for field going instruments and for investigating a novel optical saturation approach, Sat-CRDS, to further enhance the performance of CRD based trace gas sensors. A focus is set on the detection of Halogenated Volatile Organic Compounds (HVOCs) as a very important class of atmospheric molecules. Example studies include the measurement of the high resolution spectrum of the CH2Br2 symmetric and asymmetric CH stretch vibration bands, the development of a quantitative detection scheme for CH3I, and the characterization of the working limits of the Sat-CRDS approach.
