Market access and regional disparities : Empirical evidence from German history

This dissertation contributes to the literature on regional disparities with empirical evidence on the effect of market access on regional development and the consequences of regional disparities on health outcomes. The focus is on historical episodes that provide unique settings to identify these effects.
