Effekte eines Milchsäurebakterienimpfproduktes und Melasse sowie deren Kombination auf die Gärqualität und den Futterwert von Grassilagen sowie auf Futteraufnahme und Leistung von Milchkühen

The addition of inoculants to high sugar grass swards with low concentration of lactic acid bacteria can be recommended to improve fermentation quality of silages and to increase feed intake of cattle, respectively.

Although the addition of molasses alone enhances the feed quality of grassilages and leads to a higher energy intake, the combination of inoculants and molasses can be recommended, to exclude the risk of a low concentration of lactic acid bacteria.

Using homofermentative lactic acid bacteria or the combination with molasses, special attention has to be paid to ensure the aerobic stability of silages by optimum ensiling and unloading techniques.
